Evening Safari with BBQ + ATV — what this package actually is
This is the most-booked safari product on the site and the package that earned the brand its operator reputation. Pickup vehicle is a Land Cruiser 4×4 with belts and air-con. Up to six guests per Cruiser. The driver is a senior desert guide; you sit in the back and the dune-bash is a passive ride. The route opens at the sunset window and runs through the warm-light red-dune crests before the convoy converges at the BBQ camp.
The 30-minute ATV add-on is the differentiator on this package. Before the camp arrival, the convoy stops at the dune plot and guests who pre-booked the ATV add-on ride a single-seater quad on a guided 30-minute loop. Quad helmet, gloves and lead-rider are bundled into the ATV add-on price. Guests who did not pre-book stay with the Cruiser and the camp arrival happens directly.
What the evening actually looks like
Pickup is between 14:30 and 15:30 from your hotel inside the standard Dubai zone. The drive to the desert plot is 45–60 minutes; tyre-deflation stop on the desert edge for soft-sand traction. The dune-bashing sequence runs about 25–30 minutes — sunset light on the high crests, photo stops on the dune ridges, and a flat sand-bowl stop for horizon-lit photography. Guests who booked the ATV add-on are dropped at the dune plot for a 30-minute guided quad ride; the Cruiser convoy waits and resumes after the riders return.
Camp arrival is around 18:00. The traditional camp has rugs, low tables, henna painters, costume photo stations, a falconry presentation, a short camel-taster ride (around 5 minutes inside the camp grounds), and a dedicated kid-friendly area. The BBQ buffet opens around 19:00 — vegetarian, vegan, halal, gluten-free and allergy-aware portions are prepared in advance based on the dietary preferences flagged at booking. Live tanoura (whirling-dervish) and belly-dance shows run in the second half of the evening on a small stage at the camp.
The camp has shisha (chargeable), photo stations, traditional Arabic coffee and dates as a welcome service, and a small souk area with handmade items (chargeable, optional, no pressure to buy). Drop-off is back at your hotel around 22:00.

Safety, dune-bashing and motion sickness
Evening dune-bashing is more aggressive than the morning version — the driver picks bigger crest-drops because the cooler air allows the engine to work harder and the audience expects a more dramatic ride. That said: the bashing is calibrated to the people in the cabin. Tell the driver if you want a "gentle bash"; that is a real request, not a code-word, and the driver dials the intensity down on request.
Guests with severe motion sickness, recent abdominal / spinal surgery, late-stage pregnancy or severe back / neck issues should skip the dune-bash specifically. Message us at booking and we offer a "slow drive to camp" alternative — same camp programme, same BBQ, same shows, no bashing.
ATV add-on safety: minimum age 16, closed shoes mandatory, helmet sized on the spot, lead rider in front of the convoy. See /safety-certifications/ for the full operator approach.
Best season and best time of day
October to April is the peak operating window. November and December weekend evenings book up 5–7 days ahead — message early. The sunset light hits its strongest October–February.
Summer (June–August) is runnable but pickup times shift later. We message the adjusted pickup window in the booking confirmation. The camp itself is shaded and air-conditioned in the dining area; the dune-bash and ATV add-on at sunset are cooler than mid-day but still warm in July.
Pricing transparency
From AED 375 per person for the evening safari + 30-minute ATV add-on. Children 3–10 pay a reduced rate confirmed at booking; under-3s ride free on a parent's lap. The "from" price is the standard rate; weekends and peak windows do not surge — but cabin space sells out faster, so booking early secures availability.
Combo rates: evening safari + buggy or evening safari + balloon (next morning) are popular pairings. Group rate kicks in from four guests. See /pricing/.
Common booking mistakes
- Booking the evening safari then asking to skip the BBQ — the BBQ is the camp's anchor; refunds for "buffet skipped" are not standard
- Forgetting to flag dietary preferences at booking — the camp kitchen prepares portions in advance, not on demand at service
- Picking the ATV add-on then arriving in flip-flops — closed shoes mandatory for the ATV; the desk will rotate you to the camp directly
- Booking a child under 8 without flagging — the BBQ table has a kid-friendly seat that needs advance notice
- Asking for "the cheapest evening safari" without knowing what is cut — message us; we walk through what each tier removes
For first-time visitors, families and BBQ-led groups
First-time Dubai visitors — this is the package that delivers the full Dubai-desert programme in one evening. Sunset dune-bashing, ATV add-on, camp, BBQ, live shows, camel taster. Most guests do this once per Dubai trip and remember it as the desert experience.
Families with kids 8+ — the camp kid-area, the camel taster, and the ATV add-on (with the 16+ age cap on the ATV) work well for families. Kids under 8 sit out the ATV but enjoy everything else.
Groups of friends or colleagues — the BBQ buffet, live shows and shared Cruiser cabin make this a strong group-outing format. Group rate kicks in from four guests; corporate group bookings get a custom quote.
