2 Seater Can-Am Maverick X3 — what this package actually is
This is the flagship buggy on our Dubai fleet. The Can-Am Maverick X3 is a race-bred two-seat side-by-side originally engineered for desert rally competition; the platform you ride is the recreational variant tuned for tourism, but the chassis DNA is the same. Bigger turbocharged powerplant, sharper steering rack, longer-travel suspension, stiffer dampers, and a cabin geometry that places driver and passenger lower and wider for centre-of-gravity benefits over the standard 1000cc 2-seater.
You drive. The lead rider runs in front of the convoy on a sister Maverick X3 or a 1000cc-class buggy, reads the dune line for you, and signals the pace. Pre-ride briefing is longer for the X3 because the throttle response is sharper — controls familiarisation takes a few extra minutes, and the briefing covers what changes when the turbo spools versus standard naturally-aspirated engines.
Vehicle and route detail
Engine and chassis: Can-Am Rotax three-cylinder turbocharged powerplant in the 120–195 hp range depending on the X3 trim we have on your date (we run the recreational-spec, not the X3 X RS competition spec). Wheelbase is wider than the 1000cc 2-seater; the X3 sits lower and has a longer-travel FOX suspension package. Power steering is fitted; brake feel is firm and progressive. The cabin uses a fabricated tubular roll-cage with FIA-style harness mounts, low bucket seats, and net-side doors for hot-weather airflow.
Route: same private desert plot as the rest of the buggy fleet, but the 60-minute X3 loop runs the deeper four-crest sequence with one extended sand-bowl photo stop instead of two short stops. The 30-minute sampler is available but does not justify the platform — first-time X3 drivers are gently steered toward the 60-minute window. The 120-minute deep route opens the second sand-system on the west boundary and is the duration where the X3's turbo wakes up properly across long crests.
Photography: the X3's aggressive flagship lines photograph well from outside the cabin. The hero photo on this product is a side-on three-quarter shot at the photo stop with the turbo air-intake visible; the cabin is darker than the 1000cc 2-seater so cabin-interior shots favour brighter clothing.
Booking-to-drop-off flow
Same eight-step flow as the 1000cc buggies, with one extra minute on the briefing for turbo response.
- WhatsApp +971 52 440 9525 with date, group size and pickup hotel. Live price returns inside operating hours.
- Confirmation message: pickup time, meeting-point pin, X3 vehicle assignment, dress checklist.
- Pickup vehicle (4×4 with belts and air-con) collects you 30–45 minutes before ride start.
- On arrival you sign a brief damage waiver — the X3 excess is higher than the 1000cc fleet because the platform itself is more expensive.
- Pre-ride briefing in person — longer than the standard 1000cc briefing because turbo response shifts throttle modulation.
- Helmet and gloves issued and fitted. Buggy started, harness checked twice. Convoy departs in agreed order.
- Mid-loop water and photo stop. The 120-minute version includes a fuel break at the 60-minute mark.
- Drop-off back to your pickup hotel. Door-to-door is roughly 90 minutes (30-min) up to 3.5 hours (120-min).
What's included on every Maverick X3 booking
- Helmet and gloves issued and sized at the briefing area
- Pre-ride safety briefing in person — extended for turbo platform
- Lead-rider on the convoy; sweep rider on groups of three or more buggies

What may cost extra
- Pickup outside the standard Dubai zone

- Damage waiver excess (higher than 1000cc fleet — X3 platform value is higher)
Maverick X3 vs sibling buggy packages

Safety, rider experience and eligibility
The X3 is a flagship platform and we are honest at booking: first-time desert drivers are gently steered toward the 1000cc 2-seater first. The X3 is not unsafe for a first-timer, but the throttle response and brake feel reward a driver with prior side-by-side or off-road buggy experience. If you have any doubt, start with the 1000cc 2-seater 60-minute window and book the X3 next time.
Driving licence (any country) required for self-drive; drivers must be 18+. Damage waiver signed before keys leave the desk; the X3 excess is higher than the 1000cc fleet. We will not run a guest visibly under the influence of alcohol; the briefing has a standard check. Pregnancy, recent surgery and back / neck issues are reasons to skip — the morning camel ride or a slower safari is the kinder alternative. See /safety-certifications/.
Best window for the X3
Sunset slots October–February are where the X3 earns its premium price. Cooler ride feel, dramatic light on the turbo airbox lines, and the longer dune-line on the 60-minute and 120-minute loops works at golden hour. November and December weekend sunset windows for the X3 are sometimes booked 7–10 days ahead — earlier than the standard fleet.
Summer (June–August) is sunrise and sunset only on every buggy platform. The X3 in particular suffers in mid-day surface heat because the turbo engine bay runs warmer; we will not run mid-day X3 sessions in July.
Pricing transparency
The X3 sits at a premium tier in the buggy fleet. Headline rate is "ask for today's price" — same posture as the rest of the buggies because availability shifts week to week. Send date and pickup zone on WhatsApp; the live price returns in the next message. The damage waiver excess is disclosed in writing in the confirmation before you commit.
Combo rates: Maverick X3 + private evening safari is a popular pairing for couples and anniversaries. Photographer follow-vehicle is the most-booked add-on on this platform. See /pricing/.
Common booking mistakes
- Booking the X3 as a first-time desert driver — start with the 1000cc 2-seater, save the X3 for next visit
- Picking the 30-minute window on the X3 — the platform does not wake up in that time
- Forgetting the X3 damage waiver excess in the budget — disclosed in writing at confirmation
- Booking mid-day in July — turbo platform suffers more than the standard 1000cc fleet in surface heat
- Skipping the photographer add-on — the X3 cabin and lines photograph the strongest of any platform we run
For experienced drivers and photo-led couples
Experienced drivers — the 60-minute window is enough to feel the platform; the 120-minute window is where the X3 rewards stamina and confidence. The deep-route sand-system on the west boundary is the dune line where the platform earns its premium.
Couples and anniversaries — pair the X3 with the photographer follow-vehicle and the sunset window. The cabin lines photograph the strongest of any platform; the photo stop produces frames you would actually print.
Photographers — bring a real camera. The X3 turbo airbox profile rewards a 24–70mm zoom at the photo stop; phone cameras work but the dynamic range at golden hour favours larger sensors.

Frequently asked questions
Is the Maverick X3 right for first-time desert drivers?
We are honest at booking: first-time desert drivers are gently steered to the 1000cc 2-seater first. The X3 is a flagship turbo platform and rewards a driver with prior side-by-side experience. If you have any doubt, start with the 1000cc 2-seater 60-minute window.
What makes the X3 different from the 1000cc buggies?
Bigger turbocharged engine (120–195 hp recreational), longer wheelbase, longer-travel FOX suspension, sharper steering rack, race-bred chassis. The cabin sits lower and wider for centre-of-gravity benefits.
Is the damage waiver excess higher on the X3?
Yes — the X3 is a flagship platform and the damage waiver excess is higher than the 1000cc fleet. The exact excess is disclosed in writing in the booking confirmation before you commit.
How long should I book on the X3?
60 minutes is enough to feel the platform; 120 minutes is where the X3 rewards stamina and confidence on the deep-route second sand-system. The 30-minute window does not justify the platform.
Can I add a photographer follow-vehicle?
Yes — and we recommend it for the X3. The flagship cabin photographs the strongest of any platform we run; a follow-vehicle photographer produces frames you would actually print.
